Cremation Urns

My mother is being cremated, so I began talking with friends and looking on lines at cremation urns.  Most people pay at least $300 for an urn and it can go up into the thousands of dollars.  Neither my brother or I are interested in keeping Mom's ashes at home, so we really just needed an urn for burial.

It is not required that you buy an urn from the funeral home.  There are many online sellers of urns.  The one that I found that had an extensive inventory and the best prices is Mainely Urns.  They have something for everyone and their prices are reasonable.

Nowadays even Walmart sells caskets.  It is important to plan in advance for your funeral or for the funeral of a loved one.  Researching your options will keep you from having to make decisions during a stressful, sad time.

God bless,
Pam

  1. If you do your research you'll find what you're looking for and at a reasonably affordable price. I know you mentioned burial urns - were you looking for something that's eco-friendly? http://www.evrmemories.com/cremation-urns-s/Eco-Green-cremation-urns-s/253.htm These are very affordable and over time break down and return the ashes as well as the materials of the urn to the earth. I agree with the standpoint that you're better to buy online then through a funeral home. Realize that when you buy through a funeral home you're not just paying for the urn, you're also absorbing overhead cost, etc. that has typically been built into the urn price. Best of luck and wishing you some peace.

  2. I've done jewelry for ashes as a way to hold onto ashes of a loved one. Online is typically always cheaper. Good luck!

  4. It's been a year since then. What type of urn did you choose for your mom's burial? I know it’s late but I just want to share that if you want to choose urns that last a lifetime, then marble or stone-made urns are your best picks. On the other hand, if you are environmentally conscious, you just need to look for urns that are made out of sand or wood materials. It all depends which type of materials you prefer.

  5. I chose an aluminum urn that matched my Father's. He is buried in a military cemetery. Mom was buried with him and they share a headstone.

  6. Have you tried to look for something that will make you remember your loved one that has died with no success? The best solution will be the cremation jewelry. This jewelry will help you to put the departed one close to your heart. It helps in the healing process because you will always feel the person’s presence around you. In the past, people used to scatter all the ash and forget tom leave some for themselves because of superstitions reasons but this is a good way of expressing your love to the one who has died. No one will get tom know because they look very stylish.
